Firstly, happy new year to all of our players, families, friends and opponents up and down the country.
We closed out 2018 by welcoming the Riverside Raiders to Blackburn for a challenge scrimmage. The game was keenly contested by two teams who showed no sign of Christmas over-indulgence. The score at the end of 3 running clock periods was Buccaneers 5-6 Raiders. MVP for the Buccs was Hudson Nuttall who bagged his second MVP in as many games and for the Raiders it was Mike Teinert who capped a battling performance with a lovely tip-in goal. Sunday 25th November saw the Buccaneers make the familiar trip down to Deeside to take on old friends and rivals, the Flintshire Phantoms looking to break what is becoming a bit of a curse in Deeside having not come away with a win for the last 6 games.
There were Buccaneers debuts for Sam Calderbank and Hudson Nuttall.
The game started brightly for Flintshire after Liebelt put them ahead after just 28 seconds but the Buccaneers fought straight back through Tom Laurie – his first goal for the club, Longworth getting the assist. Flintshire regained the lead on the 10 minute mark with a goal from George Perrett and the lead was doubled just 3 minutes later by Chalmers.

The road over the Pennines has been well-trodden by Buccaneers teams over the years however this game would be the first time we’d face the Sheffield Mavericks. Both teams were expecting a competitive game and nobody was left disappointed.

The Buccaneers returned to home action on Saturday evening as the Halton Huskies made the trip to Blackburn for the first ever meeting between the two sides.
Saturday 3rd February saw the Buccaneers host the Wyre Seagulls in their second game in less than a week.

For the second time in less than two months, the Buccaneers headed to Flintshire to take on the Phantoms at Deeside. After suffering a 9-3 loss in the previous outing, the Buccs were hoping for a better result this time out.
