Ahead of the first game of the 2019/20 UK Ice Hockey Summer Classic, the Buccaneers faced two local rivals in pre-season warm-up games over the last couple of weeks.
Firstly, we welcomed the Flintshire Phantoms to Planet Ice Blackburn on 1st Feb. The Phantoms kept their win streak alive against the Buccs with a convincing 10-2 win, with George Perret picking up an impressive 3+3 for the visitors.
For the Buccaneers, Josh Lee made his debut and notched his first goal and assist for the club in the process. Matt Dixon grabbed the other.
Next up we lined up against the Wyre Seagulls ‘away’ at Blackburn and faced another tough encounter, this time resulting in a 12-2 loss. Hudson Nuttall and Raivis Apfelbaums with the goals for the Buccs.
Our first Summer Classic league game takes place on Saturday 14th March as we head down the M62 to take on the Kingston City Knights at the sociable time of 22.15. We’ve not faced the Knights for a couple of years now but are expecting a competitive match as both teams look to get early points on the board.
